Frequently asked questions
Does Otter run on macOS or Linux? Yes. Install PowerShell 7, then install Otter from the same download (see Installation). Console programs and web applications work there; desktop windows and a few other features built on Windows itself need Windows, and say so clearly.
Do I need PowerShell 7? No. Otter runs on the Windows PowerShell 5.1 that comes with Windows. The otter.cmd launcher finds it for you, even from PowerShell 7.
Is Otter free? Yes, including for commercial use. It is not open source: see the license.
Can I sell programs I write in Otter? Yes. Programs you create remain yours.
Where is the download? On the Download page, and on GitHub under Releases. See Installation for the steps.
